Handy tips for a quick sale

Posting an ad for sale on Adverts.ie is quick and easy, but spending a little more time working on it will increase your chances of a quick sale, and save you a lot of time.

Here are a few useful tips to enhance your ad:

  1. One item at a time – Take the time to post an ad for each item you want to sell. That way, your ads will be displayed in the correct categories, and no item will be missed out.
  2. Choose the right title – Add a brand, model, size, etc to make your ad stand out. For example, instead of fridge for sale, type Zanussi Electrolux fridge freezer.
  3. A good description will go a long way – Make sure to include all relevant details with your ad, this will minimize the number of questions on your thread and will speed up your sale. You can also add useful links, delivery and payment information.
  4. Photos are a must – Don’t expect a quick sale without any photo. A majority of buyers will only respond to ads showing pictures, so get snapping. You can add up to 6 photos on Adverts.ie
  5. Fair price - Make sure not to overprice your item. If you’re in doubt, check out similar items for sale on Adverts.ie.
  6. Check your spelling – Spelling mistakes can be fatal as your ad might not come up in specific searches on both Adverts.ie and Google.
  7. Add a link to your ad on Facebook - No need to have a Facebook account, you can post on our Facebook page :) ! Become a fan and post your ad here

Happy selling! :)

Hi There If i sell an item how do i recieve the money before i ship item

    • Maria

Hi Liam, You will need to arrange payment options with the buyer in advance and choose an option that will suit you both. We do not recommend that cash is sent in the post, and try to use registered post where possible. For more safety tips and advice, please see our help page: http://www.adverts.ie/help/safe-online-trading Thanks, Maria :)

hi if i select yes for facebook when i create my add, does my add automatically end up on my FB page or yours?

    • Daniel Good

Hi Bella, if you choose to post your ad on Facebook, it will post to your own wall on your behalf, not to our own Advertsie facebook page.

Hi, Any tips on what to do if two or more users offer the maximum bid on an item? Should you accept whoever offered the most first? Are there rules about this, or can you just randomly choose?

    • Daniel Good

Hi Karen. So the rules say that if you have more than one offer of the same amount, then you should accept whoever was first line, yes. There are some exceptions to this however, for example if the first of the offers is subject to a few conditions, you are then free to accept the second offer. Also, if the feedback rating of the user on the second offer is better than that of the user behind the first offer, you are again allowed to take that into consideration and pick whichever one you prefer. Hope this helps.
