Description:
On the occasion of this anniversary, an exceptional 10 EURO silver coin is created and represents a DS 19 from 1955 appearing in mirror image with a DS 23 from 1975. The golden coloring used to stage them, cleverly reveals the beam of the headlights and illuminates the face of the coin in an unprecedented way.

This exceptional coin will be the starting point of a collection which will grow over the course of the year.

THE DS, A TRUE ICON OF THE 20TH CENTURY

When it was presented on Thursday, October 6, 1955, under the majestic vault of the Grand Palais on the occasion of the Paris Motor Show, the DS immediately became a phenomenon. Designed by Flaminio Bertoni, a talented stylist, sculptor and painter assisted by a team of designers, the DS was as revolutionary as it was elegant with its avant-garde lines and innovations. Because it was also its technology that seduced, thanks to the talent of two men. The first, André Lefèbvre, an aeronautical engineer by training, was a fervent supporter of front-wheel drive, but also of aerodynamics, lightness and mass centering. The second, Paul Magès, a self-taught engineer, was the creator of hydraulics. He invented the famous hydropneumatic suspension, but also the hydraulic assistance for the steering, clutch and braking of the DS.

Revolutionary, the DS quickly established itself as a reference in the automotive world, and accompanied several presidents of the French Republic. This car was produced for twenty years in nearly 1.5 million copies in the heart of Paris. Nearly four decades after production ceased – on June 1, 2014, the two letters of this legendary car were reborn with the creation of the DS Automobiles brand. This legacy of the DS is today anchored in the timeless DNA of the Brand, which draws inspiration from it to imagine models embodying the art of French travel. So the story continues!

To mark the 70th anniversary of its ancestor, the Monnaie de Paris has teamed up with DS Automobiles to produce a series of collector's coins to celebrate this 20th century automotive icon!

This first commemorative 10 EURO silver note features a DS 23 produced in 1975, whose pivoting headlights, another innovation of this legendary car, illuminate the face of the coin. The light is staged with a clever golden coloring for a striking contrast. Below, like a reflection, we discover the original DS from 1955. The two versions symbolize the stylistic evolutions of the DS. On the text side, we find the name "DS" and the year of the first model "1955" accompanied by the mention "RF" French Republic, but also the year of the coin "2025". This collector's coin is presented in a card that looks back in images on the DS saga.

On the reverse, the face value of the coin is surrounded by an oak branch and a laurel branch. The whole, evoking the Euro symbol, is surrounded by a collection of lines representing the Hexagon.
