Chris Larkin Bassix rare handmade collectable 6 string bass
A beautiful handmade six string bass from Chris Larkin, this was made in November 1989. The workmanship is sublime. This bass is in very good condition for a 30 year old classic. It has a couple of small dings on lower edge of body, but is generally in superb condition with no signs of buckle rash etc. It plays beautifully and has a great range if tones from the active electronic and five position pick/up selector switch.
24 fret, 35 inch longscale neck for great low B.
Custom Larkin/ABM Bridge gives great sustain and allows easy string spacing, action/height and intonation adjustment.
3 band EQ controls, bass, middle, treble.
Master Volume. Master tone for passive mode.,
Active/ passive selector switch.
Two twin coil custom wound KENT ARMSTRONG/ LARKIN Hum Cancelling pickups.
The 5 way rotary pickup selector allows single coil for neck and bridge (like Fender jazz) and series parallel switching configurations.
An amazing range of tones are available from the four pickup coils.
I think the well balanced Reactor style body is mahogany with a figured Irish Ash top. Chris sought out rare indigenous Irish AAA woods for his masterpieces.
Laminated three piece set neck with dual truss rod. Neck is straight, with frets in very good condition.
Chris very sadly passed away last year so his basses and guitars are no longer built and will continue to acrrue value. These are rare and becoming increasingly difficult to find. It has rarely been played over last few years and I cannot really justify keeping an instrument of this quality for aesthetic reasons, it needs to be played.
No trades thanks, there is nothing out there I would swap for this beauty.
This is a very reluctant sale, but sadly this bass is not getting the use it richly deserves. No trades thanks.
