Description

Very good condition

Writer Kurt Busiek and artist Greg Ruth team up to give you the story of Conan's early life, from his birth on a Cimmerian battlefield to his coming-of-age as a warrior in the pivotal Battle of Venarium. Sewing the seeds of the Barbarian's momentous career, this chronicle of Conan's youthful conquests - both martial and carnal - also showcases master storytellers Busiek and Ruth's work at its finest.

By the time Kurt Busiek graduated from Syracuse University in 1982, he had already sold his first professional comics scripta backup story that appeared in Green Lantern #162, from DC Comics. Following that, he wrote Power Man and Iron Fist for Marvel for about a year and worked on such series as World's Finest Comics, Wonder Woman, and Red Tornado.

Since then, Kurt has divided his time between writing mainstream series, including Avengers, Iron Man, Untold Tales of Spider-Man, Conan, Superman, JLA, and Trinity; and creating his own projects, including Thunderbolts, The Power Company, Jonny Demon, The Wizard's Tale, Shockrockets, Arrowsmith, and the multiple-award-winning Astro City. He's worked with a variety of talented artists, including Brent Anderson, Mark Bagley, Carlos Pacheco, Stuart Immonen, and Cary Nord.

Kurt has won more than two dozen industry awards for his work. Among them are multiple Eisner Awards and Harvey Awards for Best Series, Best Single Issue, and Best Writer. In 1996, Marvels was named a Best Book for Young Readers by the New York Public Library. Kurt lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and two daughters and cat. The author lives in Boston, Massachusetts.

Greg Ruth is an author and illustrator of comic books and books for young readers. He is the author and artist of The Lost Boy, a New York Times bestselling graphic novel with Scholastic; and the illustrator of Our Enduring Spirit by President Barack Obama (HarperCollins, 2009), and Indeh: A Story of the Apache Wars by Ethan Hawke (Hachette Books). Greg Ruth has also published with many other comic book publishers, including Dark Horse Comics and Fantagraphics Books. He lives in western Massachusetts.
