This is a rare and visually stunning Copper relief frieze handmade by the famous French painter Andre Bizette Lindet (1906–1988) , sculptor and graduate of the Fine Arts School in Paris.
He won the Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1930. His work is held in very high esteem in many churches, public buildings and memorials in France, Australia, Canada and other countries.
His works are valued highly up to €25,000.
The engraving itself is done on a copper plate, framed, representing ‘Leda et le Cygne’ (Leda & the Swan), hand signed by André himself.
Sadly Andre died ten years after he created this masterpiece.
He is famous for creating the bronze door figures of the Museum of Modern Art of Paris in 1937, his work adorned the French pavilion of the 1939-1940 New York World Fair, and he took part in the decoration of the French Embassy in Ottawa in 1938.
This piece is numbered and dated from 1978.
