BIODEGRADABLE AND COMPOSTABLE
Biodegradable and compostable are terms used when describing organic materials breaking down in a specific environment. Both terms are often used when describing environmentally friendly products. The term biodegradable is very often misused in marketing and advertising of products and materials that are not actually environmentally friendly. This is why BioBag more often uses the term compostable when describing our products. All of BioBag’s products are third-party certified compostable.
BioBag’s product range is considered to be the most comprehensive in the market for compostable and biodegradable products. We focus on quality and development of new innovative and earth friendly products and concepts. Our brand BioBag is recognized as the best known in our line of business.
Main Quality Features:
•BioBag products are certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute to meet the ASTM D6400 specification.
•BioBags are certified GMO Free. Furthermore, only sourced corn from countries that do not allow GMO testing.
•No polyethylene is used in the production of BioBags.
•BioBags are shelf stable, just like paper plates or paper towels. There are no chemical additives to enhance decomposition. The bags biodegrade naturally when exposed to the earth’s elements and micro-organisms in the soil.
•BioBags “breathe”, which allows heat and moisture to escape or evaporate. This feature reduces bacterial build-up
of collected waste, thus reducing odour.
•BioBags will decompose in a controlled composting environment in 10-45 days, leaving no harmful residues behind.
•BioBags will decompose in a natural setting at an extended rate comparable to other naturally biodegradable materials, such as paper, leaves and food waste.
BioBag International AS, BioBag Production AS and our production partners have been certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Our ISO certification means that we have established and will maintain a quality system according to the requirements of EN ISO 9001: 2008 “Quality Management System and an environmental system according to the requirements of EN ISO 14001: 2004 “Environmental Management System.
ISO certification is not a requirement, but BioBag aspired to implement these certifications in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations as well as meet our company mission and vision. We also saw the need to acquire the ISO certification because of contractual or regulatory requirements and to meet our customer’s requests.
BioBag’s Product Certification:
All of our products, bags, sacks, and films are certified compostable and biodegradable according to the European Standard EN 13432, the US Standard ASTM D6400 and the Australian Standard AS 4736.
BioBag holds compostable and biodegradable certificates issued by several certification institutions like AIB Vincotte (OK Compost), DIN Certco,
BPI (USA) as well as other specialized certifications such as the GMO-free certificate. Our customers should be confident that they are using the best environmentally sound products with the highest quality.
