Thinking of getting the house wired to use a generator as back up power, would this do the job.

@Whos your daddy: Yes it would be about the standard power of generator used a back up for a domestic supply. The drawback with this generator would be the noise of it, you would probably be better looking at one of the silent (much quieter but not silent) versions of it. Here is a link to one on our own website:-, they are due back in stock this week.
Also please be aware there will be things that you can not power with a generator this size and you may have to manage the power at certains times (make sure something is off when something else is running). There is a blog on the website that will explain how to do a wattage calculation.
