Mid century 'Ib Kofod Larsen' drop leaf dining table
This is a superb piece of Danish design, designed by Ib Kofod Larsen for design powerhouse GPlan of High Wycombe, England. Aimed at the aspirational and more expensive range of the market in the 1960s these designer collections were quite rare, as a result in today’s market, much more difficult to acquire.
Ib Kofod Larsen designed for G Plan from 1962- 1966. One of Denmark’s leading young designers at the time who studied in the Danish Royal Academy in Copenhagen, his feel for wood is reflected in the beautiful sculptural quality of his furniture. He went on to become an internationally acclaimed furniture designer.
A fine example of his design and bearing the distinctive stamped logo of its designer on its underside. This table is an absolute beauty!
The drop down feature is eminently practical, allowing this 4 seater dining table to be reduced to 1/2 its size for effective storage until required as a very comfortable 4 seater.
The rich seamlessly smooth turned wood of its legs and frame is eye catching and stylish. The high quality teak finish of its top is extremely tactile and smooth with wonderful warm deep tones.
A special collector’s piece and rare example of mid century Danish design which has been professionally and sympathetically restored by a master craftsman and will last another lifetime.
