yes its for use on a bath and yes it can be put on either side
its in good condition wasnt used much as we took out bath and put in shower

I wa wondering if there is meant to be a rubber strip at the bottom? And also, does it just screw to the wall with two screws, as I can only see two screw holes.

sorry for not getting back sooner i was at a funeral last 2 days and have only
been on line now yes it screws to wall and we also used silicone sealer , we also used sealer at the bottom where it rested on side of bath hope this helps if you have any further query let me know regards, mary
