Description:
The Ribble Winter Bike is an unbelievable bike for the money. Alu frame, carbon fork, full 105 10sp, Mavic Open Pros. It's aimed at winter training or commuting with its full length mudguards (not the tiny clip ons). I rode it in the summer too and, while it's not as quick as a lighter road bike out of the blocks, it munches through the miles once you're up to speed. It's a perfect starter road bike, or a second training bike.
It's got a full 105 10 speed groupset including an external bearing chain set, brakes, STIs. This is the sweetspot of performance and durability without being so expensive that you're afraid to ride your bike on the salty roads.
The Mavic Open Pro wheel set is super tough. It's got standard spokes so the wheels are straightforward to true and replace spokes if necessary, like when you're cycling home on a dark night and plough into a massive pothole. Actually, they're so tough you'll probably be ok. The Tiagra hubs have cup and cone bearings so they're easily and cheaply serviced.
Originally bought through www.mtbrider.com in August 2010 and it was like a new bike. I trained that summer and commuted the following autumn but not much since then (which is why I'm selling). It's in very good condition. There are a couple of cosmetic scuffs on the RH STI and rear mech shown in photo. Drivetrain is in excellent condition, wheels are true and nothing shows any signs of needing replaced soon.
