What sort of condition are the window seals in is there any leaks to the inside.? Whats the oil pressure like on tick over.? Any leaks in the diff/gearbox.

1. What is the mileage of the car, and what is the mileage of the replacement engine?
2. Was the engine replaced by a Merc specialist or someone that knew what they were doing?
3. Does it start and drive ok?
4. Would you be in Dublin at all by any chance, or even somewhere nearer to Dublin that Galway?

If you could please let me know the answers to the above questions then I'll be able to make a decision whether to make an offer or not.

Hm, my insurer says they don't insure cars over 20 years old. That seems to put paid to that.

My other question was whether I could bring a mechanic to check it out - but I see you're in Galway; unfortunately, I couldn't bring my mechanic that far - he clings to the borders of Dublin with his fingernails if you try to take him outside the Pale.

Unfortunately, the Axa 'classic' insurance is only for what they describe as a 'fun car' for occasional driving. So that kind of puts me out of the ring. I'd also be a little worried about the diff - this is the differential gears, yes, a large and expensive job?

sorry it probably is a stupid question, but is the car not vintage yet? and what year does it have to be? does it matter if it was converted/rebuilt?

Its technically a classic though over 25years old, so you would have no trouble with vintage shows ect. Would look lovely towing around a trailer queen or a classic tractor.

Have one for sale myself a 1 owner C250 W123 in orange with tan interior and only 47,000 original miles. Beautifull cars these. Have to sell it as I need the space.

Best of look with the sale would be a shame to break.

Is the body water-tight?
How is the floor?
Is there any structural rust that you know of that would have to be sorted for NCT?
Is there much give in the Prop? i.e. is there much movement if it's moved by hand?
How are the front and rear bushes and sub-frame mounts?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm very very tempted to try and make room for one more car...
