corrr asked a question 22/04/2010 8:54 pm (2 years ago):this may seem like a strange question but is it slow and rattly!?
I'd buy this car in a heartbeat but my boyfriend says it would be too old and slow and rattly...
What's the max speed?
She's beautiful by the way!! :)
bingus666 says 22/04/2010 10:07 pm (2 years ago):slow & rattly??? erm, it's a 2.5 turbo diesel! max I've had it at on the motorway was 95mph but am sure one could get more... max spped on spedometer is 130mph & that was for the older engine! let me put it this way, they dont make them this solid anymore & no offence to your boyfriend but he doesnt know what he's talking about! thanks for nice comments, it's one of the best & most sturdiest station wagons I've ever driven... come have a look for yourself ;)
corrr asked a question 22/04/2010 10:30 pm (2 years ago):2.5 turbo diesel...that's what I said!! Unfortunately can't come up until at least the end of next week...but I'll have a talk with him and if it's still available I'd love to come have a look!
corrr asked a question 22/04/2010 10:58 pm (2 years ago):Hi again bingus666,
Just wondering what the current annual tax rate for it is? Also, is it currently taxed?
bingus666 says 23/04/2010 12:00 pm (2 years ago):Hi corrr, tax rate as normal: 2,401 to 2,500cc 935pa 518-6months 264-3months. Car is not presently taxed as it's off road but there will be no arrears to pay due to this either. Let me know when you want to have a look, am here most of the time.
rockandrolldamn asked a question 19/05/2010 2:04 pm (2 years ago):Hi is that rear arches that are crusty, what is it like underneath? inner arches floors diffcarrier ect? solid Fuel and brake lines ect?
bingus666 says 19/05/2010 5:48 pm (2 years ago):Hi there,
the arches were crusty in the past but were repaired by previous owner and seem to be holding fine the last few years, nothing major anyway. Underneath v.clean and solid, can supply pics. Had brakes lines and fuel lines serviced just 2 years ago. Floors fine, no rusting, interior very clean, diff carrier fine. come have a look for yourself, it's a lot of car of only 2k! it runs perfectly...

bingus666 says 21/05/2010 1:04 pm (2 years ago):thanks m8, it is a beauty & had I no other cars I would hang on to it, finish the cosmetics & strap the surfboard on top & point it north! see where it takes me! lol
christophergibs asked a question 06/06/2010 10:20 am (1 year ago):What sort of condition are the window seals in is there any leaks to the inside.? Whats the oil pressure like on tick over.? Any leaks in the diff/gearbox.
bingus666 says 06/06/2010 12:52 pm (1 year ago):Hi there, window & door seals are worn but still work well, no leaks. oil pressure perfect, filter recently changed. diff a bit loose & "clunky" - will prob need to be fixed or replaced at some stage. gearbox fine. come have a look!
MuffinsDa asked a question 07/06/2010 12:16 pm (1 year ago):Hi I am very interested and am thinking about putting an offer on it. But before that I need to know:
1. What is the mileage of the car, and what is the mileage of the replacement engine?
2. Was the engine replaced by a Merc specialist or someone that knew what they were doing?
3. Does it start and drive ok?
4. Would you be in Dublin at all by any chance, or even somewhere nearer to Dublin that Galway?
If you could please let me know the answers to the above questions then I'll be able to make a decision whether to make an offer or not.
bingus666 says 07/06/2010 3:04 pm (1 year ago):Hi MuffinsDa,
1. just over 170k miles but am not sure if that's in total, think so
2. engine was replaced by a merc specialist, someone that knew what they were doing
3. it starts and drives fine, was used for commuting up until recently
4. car in galway
thanks for looking

MuffinsDa asked a question 23/06/2010 10:44 pm (1 year ago):Bingus, I am happy to offer you 900 for it, assuming that it is ok and safe to drive it to Dublin and that it matches your description of it.

CarDoctor asked a question 09/07/2010 9:01 am (1 year ago):If only I could afford insurance.. Classy car!
rockandrolldamn asked a question 09/07/2010 9:05 am (1 year ago):Eh the insurance would be very small on a classic policy 200 euros or there abouts possibly less
bingus666 says 09/07/2010 1:55 pm (1 year ago):correctamundo!
Rog asked a question 16/07/2010 11:38 am (1 year ago):Hi, does the car have a current NCT?
bingus666 says 16/07/2010 1:38 pm (1 year ago):Hi Rog, no nct but wont take much to get it. New battery today.
Andrea B. asked a question 16/07/2010 2:18 pm (1 year ago):Would you consider swop/px on a 01 LagunaII 1.6 estate?
bingus666 says 16/07/2010 2:24 pm (1 year ago):Hi, no swaps as ad states. thanks
bingus666 says 18/07/2010 8:44 pm (1 year ago):Just installed new battery, purring like a kitten!
brigiboo asked a question 24/07/2010 10:33 pm (1 year ago):Hi Bingus, Is your car still for sale? It is gorgeous!
bingus666 says 25/07/2010 1:00 pm (1 year ago):Hi brigiboo, yes it is still for sale & yes it is gorgeous, thanks!
brigiboo asked a question 25/07/2010 1:23 pm (1 year ago):My only concern would be the NCT. Have you any plans to put car through test? When was it last NCTed? Thanks B
Qualitymark asked a question 25/07/2010 7:54 pm (1 year ago):Is it expensive to insure, is it heavy to drive, are parts dear?
bingus666 says 25/07/2010 9:39 pm (1 year ago):No NCT & I will not be putting it thru one. As the listing says, this is a project car, it does drive but is not on the road. The insurance depends on you (age, ncb, 1st/2nd car etc) it's very easy to drive for its size & parts can be sourced on ebay for good prices.
Qualitymark asked a question 25/07/2010 11:10 pm (1 year ago):bingus666 I'll ring my insurance company and see what they say.
Qualitymark asked a question 26/07/2010 11:42 am (1 year ago):Hm, my insurer says they don't insure cars over 20 years old. That seems to put paid to that.
My other question was whether I could bring a mechanic to check it out - but I see you're in Galway; unfortunately, I couldn't bring my mechanic that far - he clings to the borders of Dublin with his fingernails if you try to take him outside the Pale.
bingus666 says 26/07/2010 3:54 pm (1 year ago):Hi, sure bring the mechanic if you wish... maybe source one that has a life! lol... & now that there is a motorway it's only 2hrs between the cities... as for the insurance AXA do insure older cars & I believe if you have it down as a weekend car then it's alot cheaper than normal... but dont quote me on that!
Qualitymark asked a question 04/08/2010 5:24 pm (1 year ago):Unfortunately, the Axa 'classic' insurance is only for what they describe as a 'fun car' for occasional driving. So that kind of puts me out of the ring. I'd also be a little worried about the diff - this is the differential gears, yes, a large and expensive job?
bingus666 says 07/08/2010 3:06 pm (1 year ago):well this car was ins this way. depends on the driver I guess, age, penalty points etc... diff is not a large & expensive job dude...
Qualitymark asked a question 07/08/2010 5:34 pm (1 year ago):Dudette, sir. Sorry, my knowledge of diffs is not great.
I couldn't in honesty insure a car as a weekend car if I were using it every day, or almost every day. So the insurance probably makes it impossible for me, unfortunately.
bingus666 says 07/08/2010 5:48 pm (1 year ago):certainly dudette, but as the listing says this is a project car... so project needs to be continued in order to have it ncted etc, it does drive no probs but if you looking to use as an everyday car then I suggest getting a modern runabout. This is a classic mercedes & needs to be worked on properly by a seasoned Merc owner, ideally a dude/dudette who has had or has a few of these in their collection & dont mind getting oil on their hands from time to time...
Qualitymark asked a question 07/08/2010 5:50 pm (1 year ago):Quite right, dude. I hope you find its ideal owner - it's a really gorgeous car, and deserves love and care.
bingus666 says 08/08/2010 4:47 pm (1 year ago):thanks! I hope so too otherwise I will have to break it (layman's terms: take the car apart & sell it in bits)
Qualitymark asked a question 08/08/2010 11:45 pm (1 year ago):<Gasp>! Don't do that! No! No! No!
gyppo asked a question 09/08/2010 6:56 am (1 year ago):Bingus, just a few questions:
Was the VLC updated to reflect the engine conversion?
When did the car last go through an NCT?
I'd be willing to offer 900E subject to inspection. I have an '85 230E saloon one of these, but its quite thirsty!
bingus666 says 09/08/2010 12:14 pm (1 year ago):hi gyppo, by all means come have a look, log book is updated to reflect conversion. Where are you based?
gyppo asked a question 09/08/2010 5:48 pm (1 year ago):In Athlone - PM sent to you.
crazyFeet asked a question 17/08/2010 11:44 am (1 year ago):sorry it probably is a stupid question, but is the car not vintage yet? and what year does it have to be? does it matter if it was converted/rebuilt?
bingus666 says 17/08/2010 12:06 pm (1 year ago):No worries crazyFeet, according to the citizen info site, a "vintage" car must be 30yrs or older, so this baby will not be classed as vintage for just over 4 years, a perfect amount if time to convert or rebuild!
RossDonegan asked a question 20/08/2010 2:38 am (1 year ago):Its technically a classic though over 25years old, so you would have no trouble with vintage shows ect. Would look lovely towing around a trailer queen or a classic tractor.
Have one for sale myself a 1 owner C250 W123 in orange with tan interior and only 47,000 original miles. Beautifull cars these. Have to sell it as I need the space.
Best of look with the sale would be a shame to break.
bingus666 says 21/08/2010 1:56 pm (1 year ago):thanks Ross, it's a beauty alright!
bagzius asked a question 01/09/2010 7:18 pm (1 year ago):so mayby now you would be interested in swapping for my 1996 audi a6 2.5tdi estate??
bingus666 says 01/09/2010 10:44 pm (1 year ago):Hi bagzius, I dont want another car. So no thanks, this car is for sale only. cheers, bingus666.
Rylan asked a question 10/09/2010 8:36 pm (1 year ago):Genuine offer but chancing my arm aswel so please take no offence. Would you take €300 for it - cash this weekend
bingus666 says 11/09/2010 1:00 pm (1 year ago):hi Rylan, double it & it's yours...
Rog asked a question 11/09/2010 2:04 pm (1 year ago):Hi again, hope you don't mind me asking a few Qs;
Is the body water-tight?
How is the floor?
Is there any structural rust that you know of that would have to be sorted for NCT?
Is there much give in the Prop? i.e. is there much movement if it's moved by hand?
How are the front and rear bushes and sub-frame mounts?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm very very tempted to try and make room for one more car...
jimbooth asked a question 12/09/2010 9:58 am (1 year ago):offer €450 ?? maybae an extra €50 if you can get it to Limerick??
bingus666 says 13/09/2010 12:16 pm (1 year ago):Hi Rog, come have a look at it, car is tight for its age & just needs that little bit more tlc to have it ready for the vintage tax
Jimbooth: thanks but offer 600 & collect! I could make more by breaking it...
Rog asked a question 13/09/2010 7:36 pm (1 year ago):A wise suggestion - if the weekend isn't too bad I might take a trip across to have a look. Cheers.
bingus666 says 13/09/2010 8:43 pm (1 year ago):update: have arranged to sell to breakers yard on Wednesday eve. If anyone makes an offer of €500 & arrange collection asap then this IS your last chance to get a beauty! Am afraid I cant wait any longer...
Rog asked a question 13/09/2010 9:13 pm (1 year ago):Ah no! Well, you did your best and the price is an absolute steal - I really hope someone picks up this car - good luck with it.
bingus666 says 13/09/2010 9:29 pm (1 year ago):thanks Rog, am sad but unfortunately I have no choice now...
corrr asked a question 13/09/2010 11:39 pm (1 year ago):I think this is the only ad EVER to make me cry! you may remember me from page 1 of comments..I've been trying to talk the other half into helping me with this car ALL summer but with very little luck. It's basically a capital issue (well,on my side anyway)...would you be interested in a payment plan? I realise this is a very odd offer but I can't see another way and I would love this car...
gyppo asked a question 14/09/2010 6:41 am (1 year ago):Alright, I can't see a car like this going to a scrapper - I'll take it at 500. pm sent
bingus666 says 14/09/2010 11:55 am (1 year ago):Hi corrr, sorry no payment plan
Hi Gyppo, excellent choice offer accepted! but got no pm... call me!
corrr asked a question 14/09/2010 1:30 pm (1 year ago):no worries, thought it may be worth a shot. glad someone is saving it from scrap!
barura asked a question 15/09/2010 12:06 am (1 year ago):Such a beauty!
bingus666 says 09/10/2010 6:11 pm (1 year ago):broken up... :(
corrr asked a question 09/10/2010 6:32 pm (1 year ago):wtf??? (excuse the profanity please)
What happened to selling it to Gyppo??
:(
...shocked...saddened...appalled if I'm honest :(
Qualitymark asked a question 09/10/2010 6:37 pm (1 year ago):Oh no! How much did you get from the scrapper?
bingus666 says 10/10/2010 6:39 pm (1 year ago):corrr, I'm still using those profanities... cant believe I had to break her... Qualitymark, not enough! :(
Rog asked a question 10/10/2010 7:08 pm (1 year ago):Wishing I'd made that trip now...
Qualitymark asked a question 10/10/2010 11:42 pm (1 year ago):So, so sad. If I could possibly have got insurance to drive this car I would have bought it for the €1,000 asked. Crazy that I couldn't get it - I'm sure the car's just as good as the 14-year-old I'm driving. Alas. Ar dheis Dia na Mótair go raibh a h-anam.
bingus666 says 12/10/2010 2:55 pm (1 year ago):lol, now ya tell me...
