jojack42 asked a question 12/10/2011 1:43 pm (7 months ago):i'll take one off your hands for e 550 ? what power is it ?
Freya Guitars says 12/10/2011 3:29 pm (7 months ago):This is unpowered, you'll need a separate power amp.
jojack42 asked a question 12/10/2011 10:00 pm (7 months ago):ok thanks ! looking for the cp model
Freya Guitars says 13/10/2011 12:08 am (7 months ago):Yes, they're a bit more €. The trend at the moment is powered speaker cabs which is leading to the popularity of the unpowered mixer. The beauty of powered cabs is that you can daisychain as many of them as you like without any impedance problems..........
WackoMako asked a question 13/10/2011 3:51 pm (7 months ago):Hi, could you explain how you would use powered cables? Do you use them with a powered amp ya? Just figuring out whether to get this one or the powered version. Thanks
Freya Guitars says 13/10/2011 4:52 pm (7 months ago):@WackoMako: Dead simple. All you do is use a shielded cable (either an XLR type or a guitar-lead 1/4" jack plug type, depending on what you need). You then use these to go from the two main outs (L&R) on the desk to the inputs of your power amp, and two speaker leads from the outs of the power amp to your speakers. You can use whatever size power amp you like, not just what the manufacturer thinks might do the job for you. So if you want 2x4000W you can have it just by using the right amp. Nowadays, however, the coming trend is for powered speaker cabs (each cab has a power amp built in), so you just go from the mixer directly to the speaker cabs. The advantages of separate units are: light weight per unit, you can mix & match components much more easily, and, if you use powered cabs, you can daisy-chain as many as you like and build a massive system without worrying about impedance loads, and can then use just two cabs for your local pub gig the day after. Hope that helps, please feel free to ask any other questions.
Barnocious asked a question 06/11/2011 8:59 pm (6 months ago):What sort of active cabs are people going for these days? Im also looking for the powered version of the Allen & Heath, i have a t.mix at the minute and im not too sure if i like it. I also have a pair of old EV 250's (the ones in the narrow plastic housing). Any advice/ suggestions? Its for an acoustic two-piece. Thanks.
Freya Guitars says 07/11/2011 9:18 am (6 months ago):As regards active cabs, RCF and EV's seem to be very well thought of, though expensive. Can't beat Peavey for value, and, if you get the good ones (not the cheapos) they're VERY good. Can't beat them. The powered version of this mixer is a good bit more expensive, about €1000 on Thomann. We can match that price for you if you want it. However, it's heavy, and the unpowered one is lighter, if you have a separate power amp you can get the amont of power you want as opposed to what the manufacturer thinks you should have, and power amps aren't expensive.
Advice/suggestions? Hmmm......keep the EV's, sell the t.mix and buy the Allen & Heath. We have only this one as we acquired it when we took over Soundcabin. It's brand-new, full warranty, &c.
We might even take the t.mix as a part-trade.........
Jonny Warren asked a question 08/11/2011 11:46 am (6 months ago):he rob check out my ad i am selling a powered one of these wouldtrasde you mine + 150 for the passive version. will probably get a guitar from yuo while i'm down there
Freya Guitars says 10/11/2011 3:54 pm (6 months ago):@Jonny Warren: Hi Johnny, can't see one on your ads? Have you taken it down?
BIGDOGG asked a question 12/11/2011 12:53 pm (6 months ago):check it here . http://www.adverts.ie/572442
any nice acoustic guitars down there. cutaway- good preamp
not too dear.
Freya Guitars says 12/11/2011 4:33 pm (6 months ago):Are you sure it'll only be €150 to fix? Are you selling the case with it too? I do have some acoustics here, well worth the paice, same preamp as the other ones we used to have (Baz has one - the guitar is a bit different though). I also have a REALLY nice acoustic, solid spruce top, solid rosewood back & sides. We didn't spec a preamp on these as I didn't want great big holes cut in such a nice guitar, and I figured the Fishman endpin unit could be installed afterwards if needed (or you could cut a great big hole for the controls if you'd prefer LOL!). This has a hard case too, can do you a good deal as there's only one left......
BIGDOGG asked a question 13/11/2011 10:41 am (6 months ago):same thing happened before (other side) over heated the console. and it cost €150 to fix in reasound in belfast.
Barnocious asked a question 13/11/2011 4:03 pm (6 months ago):Hey dude thanks for the advice!! I'll might stick with what i have at the minute. Its a tmix 1098, 12 channel 500w a side with flight case, in excellent condition. What sort of trade would be talking about? And what sort of power amp should i be looking at if i got that route? Thanks, B.
Freya Guitars says 13/11/2011 5:16 pm (6 months ago):@Barnocious: Not a problem. I can only find the Tmix 1094 on Thomann, but it looks very similar, selling for €289, so including the case I'd allow you €200 for it. In terms of sound quality the Allen & Heath is miles ahead, no comparison really. I've always liked Peavey power amps, about 500W per side is a good compromise, as you have to bear in mind the power-handling capability of your speakers. Generally speaking, 500W @ 4 ohms translates to about 300W @ 8 ohms, so you should be OK there. In the future, adding two more 8 ohm speakers will give you the power handling of the amp running at 4 ohms. The better-quality Thomann power amps are good too (& great value), I've used them and they're quite good. The cheaper ones are, well, cheap.....
Like I say, I like Peavey gear, but there are a lot of power amps out there and seemingly no upper price limit. Hope that helps, always here to help......
Niggles21 asked a question 26/11/2011 1:58 pm (6 months ago):Would you take a trade for the Studiomaster in my ads?
Freya Guitars says 26/11/2011 2:24 pm (6 months ago):@Niggles21: I would, but I'd need a bit of cash my way. How much would you be thinking of?

Freya Guitars says 26/11/2011 2:52 pm (6 months ago):@Niggles21: I'll be in Limerick during the week, and in Cork tomorrow, if that's any good to you, and we send stuff by courier all over the country for only €10.......
Niggles21 asked a question 26/11/2011 2:58 pm (6 months ago):ok, I'll give you a shout back i a little while, how much extra would you need with my desk?
Freya Guitars says 26/11/2011 3:07 pm (6 months ago):@Niggles21: €150? I'd cover the shipping costs from here to you if we decided to use couriers.
