Description (updated on 09/02/2011 at 05:52pm):

Brand new PS3 unwanted gift Irish model.

Think theyre going for aroung €400 so i'll be taking 380 ono.

Contains Dualshock 3 wireless controller and all the usual bits and bobs.

Just to emphasise this PS3 is actually brand new and sealed in the box.

do you have a receipt?

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 14/05/2009 11:34 am (3 years ago):

No receipt i'm afraid. Just rang who i got it off and they said they would have a look but i'm not holding my breadth.

AFAIK Sony know the ones which were bought in Ireland from their serial number and will service them for one year without a problem.

I had no receipt for a MD player i had about 9 months back in the day and they took it in and repaired it free of charge.

If you want to make me an offer your welcome to though. I'll accept reasonable offers on this based on the fact they're around €400 new.

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 14/05/2009 11:38 am (3 years ago):

Only reason i'm selling it is i already have a 60GB one for three years.
They're very reliable anyway, i've never had one ounce of trouble.

offer 320 best i can do for ps3 with no games there is a few good deals in smyths with games

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 14/05/2009 2:59 pm (3 years ago):

Thanks for the offer, not letting it go for that though.

Lowest is about €360 which would allow any buyer to buy two games on play.com for the €50 or €60 theyre saving.

Still available. I'll let it go for €360 or €350 absolute lowest. Thats 12.5% off normal price in the shops.

never2fast asked a question 15/05/2009 12:30 pm (3 years ago):

Hi Dublinstiofán, I was about to offer you the asking price when I did a bit of lookup on google about warranty without receipt. just to confirm Sony will not honour warranty without receipt, because warranty is one year from purchase date, not manufacture, and without receipt they cannot determine the purchase date. makes sense to me. just so you and buyers know. pleanty of bad stories if you google "ps3 warranty no receipt" in light of that if you will accept less let me know, had bad experiances with returning consoles with my xbox :P (i know the ps3 is more reliable)

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 15/05/2009 5:07 pm (3 years ago):

Well never2fast you have done your research. Just to address what you have said:

*You can google any electronic product and you will get 100's of hits about the nightmare cases.
The fact is the majority (id imagine well over 90%) of PS3's have no problems throughout the course of their lifetime. If i was selling an Xbox i'd agree with you as every second one is defective. Playstations are very reliable, i know i have a 60GB PS3 for 3 years.

*Secondly i've dealt personally with Sony Ireland before,
1) i had no receipt
2) the over £300 Mini Disk player i had was 9 months old
3) Sony took it in, ordered a part for it and repaired it free of charge based on the serial number alone.

I cant guarantee this is the case with the PS3 but i've never had to find out, touch wood.

I can appreciate that some people may be uncomfortable about buying a product without receipt however over €50 off the instore price, a sealed box and the opportunity to test the unit before purchase if requested would ease anybodys' mind.

Bottom line is €350 i'd rather give it to my brother and have two blu-ray players in the house than sell it for less Its worth €350.

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 16/05/2009 11:27 am (3 years ago):

Right i've decided that it's a waste to have two of these in the house.

I'll accept offers on this near enough the new asking price of €350. Best offer takes it.

Note: Anything under €300 will not be considered. Chance to walk away with a real bargain.

galwaylad
galwaylad asked a question 16/05/2009 11:49 am (3 years ago):

I would be interested in this but your asking price is crazy, You can get this in game for 399euro with 1 controller and 2 games and 1 year warranty so why on earth would someone pay 35oeuro for this with no warranty?? Its beyond me.

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 16/05/2009 1:06 pm (3 years ago):

I've said i'm accepting offers on it. What more can i say.

Fine you can get a bundle deal ,but, if you buy the console on its own it still costs €400 without any games.

Make me an offer if your interested.

Crowman
Crowman asked a question 23/05/2009 6:56 pm (3 years ago):

Is this backward compatible with the PS2? I would be interested if so...

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 23/05/2009 7:57 pm (3 years ago):

It says on a few sites i had a look at there that there is PS3 emulation on this model meaning it can play some PS2 games but not all.

Some are and some are not is the honest response to that one.

I'm not sure how to check, i googled it quickly there but had no luck. Maybe if somebody knows the answer to this one i'd appreciate some input on it, thanks.

RubberSideDown
RubberSideDown asked a question 23/05/2009 9:54 pm (3 years ago):

I see the price has come down on this! I will bid you €250 if you can do it at that price I have cash waiting.

I know I would be taking a risk on an untried PS3 with no warranty and a bill of €160 to repair it if something went wrong so don't thinks it that bad of an offer.

If your not intrested then free bump!

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 24/05/2009 8:13 am (3 years ago):

Crowman:
Apparently all you have to do to check compatibility is enter the game here:

http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus

RubberSideDown:
I'm not happy with people playing the odds negatively with this. Theres almost a 99% guarantee its going to be perfect for its lifetime. I'm not taking €250 just because you say its going to be defective, because its not.

Its not an Xbox were talking about here.

Thanks for the offer.

AceCard Jones
AceCard Jones asked a question 24/05/2009 11:59 am (3 years ago):

I informed my friend of this and unfortunately he just doesn't have the cash at the moment. And on the note of backward compatibility, if it has 4 USB ports at the front it's an SKU with at least some PS2 BC, if it has 2 then it has none. However all models have PS1 BC. Owning a 60GB launch unit personally I'm fine but a lot of people want the BC despite Sony saying otherwise.

Good luck with sale.

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 24/05/2009 12:26 pm (3 years ago):

I've a 60GB launch unit too and to be entirely honest with you the backwards compatibility is a gimmick.

In three years i've only once played an old game (Metal Gear solid) for about 5 minutes before it started hurting my eyes on the HDTV and i turned it off.

If your going to buy a PS3 chances are you will want to play a PS3 game and watch a few Blu-Rays

RubberSideDown
RubberSideDown asked a question 24/05/2009 2:44 pm (3 years ago):

Dublinstiofan I didn't say that the PS3 would be defective. But there is a chance it could be.

And there is a 100% chance it will be perfect for it lifetime but there is no way of telling how long this will be, could be a month could to 10 years. But if it did break, no one know if sony would repair it.

So the buyer would have to accept there is no warrant even if its sealed in the box.

I don't think that €250 for a PS3 with no warrant or games is that bad of an offer. I know I can get a used one up north for approx €250 with a game and years warrant but am trying to buy one local.

But if you can't let it go for that price then I won't be coming in any higher.

Good luck with the sale.

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 24/05/2009 4:20 pm (3 years ago):

Ok thats enough RubberSideDown, Thanks for your offer.

I'm not letting it go for €250 and that's it. Warranty or not. €280 is the lowest.

If you want a refurbished one go ahead up north and get it. Funny thing is you would spend €30 on petrol getting up and back which is the difference between you getting this one in Dublin, new and sealed.

Rafloution
Rafloution asked a question 24/05/2009 5:02 pm (3 years ago):

300 gbp in Argos with 3 games...approx 325 euro...and you get a receipt.
ill offer 255

Dublinstiofán
Dublinstiofán says 24/05/2009 5:13 pm (3 years ago):

£300 is €342 and then €30 petrol up and back, €372.
And then that would end up at €772 or €872 because everything's such good value up there.

Or you could just buy it now for €280 and save yourself hours in the car queueing to get into Newry and save you from loosing that other €400 on stuff you don't really need at all. And the best bit is you could have it in 20 minutes.
