Elegant Finnigans of Bond Street Leather Handbag

This is an elegant , vintage , leather Art Deco style handbag from the 1950’s or 1960’s, made and sold by Finnigans of Bond Street , London.
A single leather handle, bag opened by clasp movement of the right hand clasp. Very good closure even after 70 years.
The interior is also pure leather lined in red with several compartments. One deep zipped pocket, one small pocket with pen holder, one clasped pocket with another small pocket attached.
In very good vintage condition, some marks and slight imperfections in keeping with its age but no major flaws in either the red or black leather. Size :
30cm width, 25 cm high from top to base, base 6cm and 15 cm drop on handle.
The house of Finnegans was established in 1830 by an Irishman named Brian Finnigan who was allegedly descended from Brian Boru. It rapidly became famous for the quality of its leather goods and was patronised by the rich and famous. Sadly it closed its Bond Street store in 1968.
So, this is a once off , vintage , beautiful elegant handbag from a famous Irish fashion house in London.
