@brian mcl: it's used condition but fully functional.
Replaced as I was hoping it would stop the Cain from rattling but as the mechanic said, the tensioner couldn't to anything more as the chain was way to stretched.
Ended up replaceing both , chain and tensioner with brand new units.
Sold that bike so this is a leftover part.
Feel free to have a look at in person and see if is worth your while.

Appreciate the info. I'm in the exact same position with the chain ticking and was going to try a new tensioner first. As it's the original one I won't buy it. Thanks for letting me know

@brian mcl: I cannot say for sure your situation is like mine
In your case could be something as simple as a wornout tensioner and not the chain.
If I were you, I'd inspect the tensioner and see how far back is.
If it reached it's maximum limit (fully extended) then the tensioner is busted.
I first purchased a new tensioner and this is how I found out that the chain is bad.
However, of your chain turns out to be overly stretched and you choose to replace it for a new one.
I'd definitely would replace the tensioner as well to have all fresh.
