Boxed Amstrad GX4000 console with 2 controllers, cables, inserts, and pack-in game

For sale is an exceptionally well-preserved, boxed Amstrad GX4000.

Released in Europe in 1990, the GX4000 was Amstrad’s short-lived and only dedicated video game console, as well as the most graphically advanced 8-bit console ever released. It was discontinued in 1991 after failing to compete with the increasingly dominant Sega and Nintendo systems.

The box contains:

- Amstrad GX4000 console
- Original polystyrene inserts
- Original power adaptor and RF/UHF television aerial lead cable, retained in their plastic sleeves [console is SCART compatible; SCART adapter not included]
- Two original controllers, packaged in bubble wrap
- Original protective film still present on the controller faces
- Burnin’ Rubber pack-in cartridge in plastic sleeve
- GX4000 instruction manual
- Burnin’ Rubber instruction manual

The system has been tested: it powers on, produces picture and sound, loads and plays Burnin’ Rubber, and both controllers respond correctly. Please see photograph showing Burnin' Rubber in operation.

Cosmetically, the console, controllers, cables and cartridge are in excellent condition and appear to have been very lightly used. The original protective film remains on both controller faces.

The outer box is also in very good condition for its age. There is a tear around the carrying handle, which is shown clearly in the photographs, but otherwise there is relatively little scuffing or fading. There are no smoke or musty storage odours.
