Eileen Gray (1878–1976) was an Irish-born designer and architect, widely regarded as one of the most influential pioneers of Art Deco and Modernism. This book looks at the lesser-known private side of her career: throughout her life she kept painting and drawing, even though she saw herself primarily as a designer and architect. Much of that work was lost or destroyed, but a body of surviving gouaches and drawings from the 1920s–1950s is reproduced here, drawn from the Eileen Gray archive and her correspondence with her niece, painter Prunella Clough.
