Yes, you can, but only if your electrical circuit is suitable for a 9 kW shower.

The Triton T90SR 9 kW is a direct physical replacement for the T90Z 8.5 kW—the mounting points, pipe entry, and cable entry are designed to match, so the swap is straightforward mechanically.

However, the extra 0.5 kW increases the current draw:

* T90Z 8.5 kW: about 37 A
* T90SR 9 kW: about 39 A

Triton’s installation guide specifies a 40 A MCB for the 9 kW model, and the cable and protective device must be adequate for that load.

So:

* If your shower circuit already has a 40 A breaker and appropriately sized cable (often 10 mm², though 6 mm² may be acceptable depending on installation method and cable run), then a 9 kW T90SR is usually fine.
* If your existing 8.5 kW shower is on a smaller cable or lower-rated breaker, you should not simply fit the 9 kW version without checking the circuit.

If you want a guaranteed like-for-like replacement with no electrical questions, the T90SR 8.5 kW is the safest choice.

If you’re in Ireland, tell me:

* What size MCB/fuse protects the shower? (e.g. 40 A, 45 A)
* Do you know whether the shower cable is 6 mm² or 10 mm²?
