Legacy of Devotion - Fr Edward Flanagan of Boys Town - Irish Biography

Legacy of Devotion by Father Clifford J. Stevens, a biography of Father Edward J. Flanagan, the Irish-born priest who founded Boys Town in America.

From his upbringing in rural Ireland to establishing one of America's best-known organisations for disadvantaged children, the book explores Flanagan's life, work and lasting influence on approaches to child welfare.

What makes this account particularly interesting is its author. Father Clifford Stevens was himself a Boys Town boy and knew Flanagan personally as a caregiver, friend and mentor, bringing an unusually close perspective to the story.

This substantial 414-page hardback follows Flanagan's Irish background, priesthood, the founding and development of Boys Town, and his belief in giving vulnerable young people opportunities for a better future.

An interesting book for readers of Irish emigrant history, biography, Catholic history, social reform and the history of child welfare.

Very good used condition.
