Here offered is a copy of The Story of a Hedgeschool Master by Eugene Watters. Watters was born in Ballinasloe, Co Galway in 1919 and died in 1982. He was a prolific Irish writer, in all genres, and editor of Feasta from 1962 to 1965. This book was written about the teachers who preserved Irish culture, speak Gaelic, or practice Catholicism under the Penal Laws passed between 1702 and 1719.
This copy is ex-library with usual stamps and markings. But still nice tight copy of the Mercier Press edition with the gorgeous Alan Phelan cover design which is nice and bright. Scarce in any condition.
