Cornish Crabber/Shrimper 17

Description

I'm reluctantly selling my Cornish Crabber/Shrimper 17, a lovely 17 foot day sailer with road trailer.
Originally launched as the Cornish Crabber 17 this model was later rebranded as the Cornish Shrimper 17, but these are identical boats.

The Crabber 17 is a great family boat that can also be sailed single-handed, especially with the included autohelm. I have sailed her all over Ireland, both coastal (Kinsale, Baltimore, Schull, Bantry, Galway) and inland waters (Lough Derg), but she's currently in Dromineer from where she'd have to be collected.

She comes with everything needed to take her out including:
- A cuddy
- Boom cover
- 6 HP Yamaha outboard (currently being serviced)
- Battery (with fitted charger, shore power lead)
- Simrad autohelm
- Electric bilge pump
- Tri-colour navigation light
- Boat hook
- Fenders
- Numerous lines
- Radar reflector

The trailer has been overhauled in 2024 by Indespension in Limerick and is in good condition.
The 2 boards along the rollers (visible in the photos) make it easy to be launched and retrieved by someone on his own, but a second pair of hands obviously does make it easier.
The mast can be stepped and raised on your own as well, but that does require a bit of work. I have done it lots of times though and it's not difficult once you have done it a few times.
She comes with a metal stand for the mast to lay in when lowered. For shorter distances this can also be used to transport her and to make it really easy to raise the mast again at the destination.

The sails are both in very good condition and the jib has a rolling furler that's also working great.

The all-wooden mast was replaced in 2023 and is therefor in near-new condition.
Both the boom and bow sprit are also in good condition but are older then the mast.

The benches in the cockpit can be flipped up to free up space or down to sit on and these are strong enough to stand on an not having to worry about balance etc. These are in great condition as well.

The lifting keel/center board is in good condition and moves freely without issues, but this is harder to inspect as she's usually kept on her trailer when out of the water.

The cuddy does have some minor signs of wear but looks good and I have used it extensively. Great to stay out of the weather or even sleep under.

The cusions in the photos are for the benches in the fore peak and are a bit old, but still fully functional.

The outboard is in really good condition and comes with both an internal fuel tank (small) and an external one that's fitted in one of the lockers (larger).
I'm having it serviced at the moment so that will be done by the time she'll be sold.

A few years ago I had a battery, bilge pump and Simrad autohelm fitted in the center locker and hooked up a battery charger to keep it all topped up.
I also built a simple fuse panel in the locker which has come loose but is working fine and can easily be fastened again.
