Rare 1920s/30s French Houppette Pli Bakelite & Glass Perfume Bottle – Bird Design, Original Box

An extraordinary and very rare piece by the French brand Houppette Pli, dating from the 1920s–1930s.

This stunning item features a glass perfume bottle with wand, encased in a yellow bird-themed Bakelite housing — detailed wings and legs, shiny eyes, and a little red beak. It’s stamped on the base and comes in the original box, which is almost never seen complete.

Condition is excellent vintage overall: the Bakelite is glossy and intact, and the bottle is clear with only a tiny, almost invisible crack to the neck (shown in photos). This does not affect its beauty or value as a display piece.

I have not come across another example like this with a perfume bottle — making it a truly unique collector’s item.
