Traditional Ebony Flute
Description
Lovely Ebony flute with great sound. The dense ebony wood gives a very solid but mellow tone. Perfect for traditional music. Its easy to play and because its antique and unbranded .... its excellent value for money. The flute is older than anyone reading this advert, so it has scratches, repaired cracks, new cork, new treading and new pads. Most likely made in Germany around 1900, its a typical Nach Meyer flute. These flutes fell out of favour with the introduction of the metal silver flute at the start of the 20th century. Consequently these Nack Meyer flutes were adopted by Irish musicians because they have the same fingering as the tin whistle. And today at many sessions you will see Nach Meyer flutes played.
