The Sony HVL-F56AM is a powerful, versatile hot-shoe flash designed for Sony Alpha DSLRs and cameras with the Intelligent Accessory Shoe (Minolta/Sony A-mount). It features a guide number of 56 (at 85mm ISO 100), TTL auto flash metering, high-speed sync (HSS), and wireless capabilities. It includes a flash head that pivots and bounces, making it excellent for portraiture.

The Sony HVL-F56AM flash is primarily designed for Sony
(Alpha) A-mount DSLR and SLT cameras. It features the dedicated Konica Minolta/Sony iISO hot shoe, making it suitable for models like the DSLR-A900, A700, A580, A550, A350, A200, and SLT-A99V, A77V, and A58.

Compatibility Details:
A-Mount Cameras (Direct Fit): Works seamlessly with most Sony A-mount DSLRs (e.g., A100-A900 series) and SLT cameras (A33-A99).

Wireless Capability: Functions as an external wireless remote flash with A-mount cameras equipped with wireless flash capabilities.

Mirrorless (E-Mount): Requires an adapter (e.g., LA-EA3 or LA-EA4) to be used with Sony E-mount cameras, as they feature a different hot shoe (Multi Interface Shoe).

Other Devices: It can be used on certain NEX-VG series camcorders, but wireless functionality may not be supported.

It is not natively compatible with the newer Multi Interface Shoe (MIS) found on modern Alpha mirrorless cameras without an adapter.
