We bought this car in July 2024 from the first owner. It had been parked up and not driven for about a year and a half before that, so the mileage is genuine (currently around 247,000 km per recent records). The engine is strong and healthy, starts easily, runs smoothly with no odd noises, smoke, or major mechanical problems, and it drives fine overall.
In the past few weeks, I've invested heavily in it because I originally intended to keep the car long-term and bring it up to top condition:
* All brakes fully serviced just 2 weeks ago (new pads, discs, shoes where required front and rear) - cost €660.
* Two brand new tyres fitted on February 12 (worth €170)
* New wipers front and back
* New washer pump
I've spent well over €1,000 in recent weeks on these and other bits to get it sorted and taxed her for a year. However, I realised I have no real ongoing use for a second car - larger MPV like this.
I decided not to spend any more money on it, rather than continue pouring cash into fixes, I'm selling her as-is. For someone who knows cars, or who has access to a good mechanic, this is a solid opportunity: after investing a relatively small amount more to address the NCT issues, she will serve reliably and well for a long time thanks to Toyota's legendary durability.
Additional positives:
* New Taxation Period: to 31-01-2027, Motor tax €514 paid – no immediate tax costs for the buyer.
* The car is sold as seen with no NCT. It failed primarily on perished/chaffed flexible brake pipes, some rigid brake pipe pitting/kinking, power steering issues (sticky function) - as per the mechanic, it could likely need just to flush & replace the power steering fluid. Bleed the system with the engine running.
* Additionally, the two front shocks need replacement (common wear item on these at this age/mileage, and often flagged on NCT for imbalance). Many of these are typical age-related issues on 20-year-old cars in Ireland (brake lines, suspension wear, etc.), and with the recent major brake work already done, a buyer handy with a garage could likely sort the rest affordably and get it passing.
This is a great opportunity for someone mechanically inclined or looking for a cheap, reliable family hauler/project: flexible seating, good space, classic Toyota durability. The engine and core drivetrain are sound, and it drives well as it is.
