For sale: my good old brick – Volvo V70 MK3.
Engine is 2.0 petrol with timing chain (no belt)
I’m the 2nd owner, had it for 7 years. Bought at 120k km, now at ~240k km. Selling only because I downsized to a Volvo V40 as my driving is now mostly city and by myself. I genuinely miss the size and comfort though.
This car has travelled extensively across Ireland, UK and Europe and has been rock solid.
I’m always honest (check my reviews) , so here are the negatives first:
Road tax €1,250/year (painful, yes - but thats reflected in low price)
There is a long dent/scratch on the left side (see photos). I didn’t repair it because it would have been expensive and purely cosmetic. It actually shows how solid the car is - the paint wasn’t even broken.
Headlight washers disabled. Most likely just need cleaning. This happened just before the NCT and I simply left them disabled.
That’s it really.
Positives:
Just passed NCT
Serviced at 240k - just before NCT (Liqui Moly oil & filter, washer leak fixed, checks)
All 4 tyres replaced and still good with plenty of thread left (Hankook Ventus Prime 4). Swap front/rear and you easily get 1–2 more years.
Huge, comfortable leather seats - best seats I’ve ever owned - did few 1,200–1,300 km per day trips with zero back pain
Safety: It’s a Volvo. You feel safe the moment you get in. Ideal family car.
Reliable engine: Simple 2.0 petrol, naturally aspirated (no turbo). Timing chain - no belt. Regular servicing and it will run forever.
Well maintained: Regular oil changes using Liqui Moly (Volvo spec) and always decent quality parts.
Ready to drive: The car needs absolutely nothing right now. Maybe just new owner who will be good to it :)
I’m not great at keeping detailed paperwork, but here’s what’s been done during my ownership:
All Tyres changed (around 210k)
New shocks (Bilstein front, Sachs rear) (around 160k)
All suspension issues addressed
Clutch & dual mass flywheel done (~210k km)
Brakes fully replaced (pads likely will beed change in 10–20k) Brakes are excellent
Air‑conditioning compressor replaced (~200,000 km) - blows ice cold
Fluids, belts etc. done as required
Long story short - I won’t claim nothing will ever go wrong - it’s a 16‑year‑old car - but I’m not aware of any issues at all.
Equipment & Features
Full leather interior (proper soft leather), AC, Cruise control, Rain sensor, Rear parking sensors, Powered tailgate (opens with remote), Electric windows/mirrors, DTC,
Trip computer
This is a big, solid, safe and incredibly comfortable car that has been well looked after and honestly driven. It’s ready to go, perfect for family.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
