Description:
Audi A3 Sportback which needs repair by a mechanic.
The car is driving well and if you fix the issues I've listed and put it through the NCT, it should be very good value.
It comes with a working and installed Bluetooth car radio: Alpine CDE-133BT (the original Audi car radio is in the boot.
Issues with the car:
Clutch / Gearbox Noise: There is an engine noise, which disappears if you press in the clutch. Note: This year/model uses a solid/single-mass flywheel (it doesn't have a dual-mass flywheel, which would sound like this), so the noise might be a worn clutch release bearing or input shaft bearing.
Front Suspension Noise: There is a loud, spring-like sound when turning the steering wheel to full lock on either side. This points to a seized strut top mount bearing or a worn front coil spring.
Driver's Window and rear passenger window: The driver's window moves just a tiny fraction up and down when the switch is pressed but won't fully open. The motor and wiring are getting power perfectly, so it just needs a replacement mechanical window regulator unit, which you can get from a breakers. The same issue is starting to show in rear passenger window, so that window regulator unit will probably need replacing as well, if not immediately, soon enough.
Side mirror cracked: the driver's side mirror is cracked, as you can see in the picture.
Emissions:
Emissions: It went down on emissions at the last NCT. However, there is a loose plastic vacuum/breather pipe right beside the engine intake cover that needs to be clamped or replaced.
This is highly likely causing a vacuum leak, which throws off the emissions, so it should be a very simple fix.
Tyres: Passed the last test on advisories.
