This 2 disc album contains very early Marlene Dietrich recordings from her pre von Sternberg stage days of 1928, up to later films such as "A Foreign Affair" of 1948. This is not Hi-Fi quality, but is truly fascinating to listen to and absorb the atmosphere of Weimar Germany through Hollywood along with those catchy Hollander compositions. Marlene's voice is clear, her English sung at that time was better than you'd expect along with a less deep and higher octave. Of course there are many recordings included in German as well, but again they're clear and resonant. Every song she sings with feeling, emotion and enthusiasm, truly wonderful to listen to.
