A Set of Six Myott Staffordshire Ironstone Royal Mail Soup Bowls and Melody Saucers

Description

This set of six pieces is manufactured by Myott, Son and Co. Ltd. in Staffordshire, England, and dates to the mid-20th century. The collection consists of three double-handled soup bowls in the Royal Mail pattern and three coordinating saucers in the Melody pattern. All pieces are constructed of fine ironstone with blue and white transferware decoration. The Royal Mail pattern on the bowls depicts a traditional English stagecoach scene with figures and horses in a village landscape. Each bowl features a lobed body and two scrolled handles. The Melody pattern on the saucers includes a central floral bouquet and a scalloped rim with alternating panels of floral sprays and basketweave motifs.
