Amazing and Rare Vintage Mid Century Modern Celtic Thomas Unusual-Handled Tall Teapot in the Lilac and Indigo Colourway, Plus Two Matching Cups in The Wave Pattern

I am continuing my effort to downsize as unfortunately we will have to move all our belongings into temporary storage due to builders carrying out major remediation works to our brand new home.
I’m trying to minimize the pain by reducing the amount of packing required to be done!

For sale here is a Amazing and Rare Vintage Mid Century Modern Celtic Thomas Unusual-Handled Tall Teapot in the Lilac and Indigo Colourway, Plus Two Matching Cups in The Wave Pattern

This is a fine example of Vintage Celtic Thomas Ceramics in a very unusual and rare pattern and style.

The German ceramics firm Thomas/Rosenthal had an interest in the Celtic Kilrush Ceramic Company in the 1970’s. I’m not sure if it was a collaboration or a takeover, but from this time, the backstamps changed to show Celtic Thomas. It was just before this time that this pattern and shapes were introduced, as some examples have the Celtic Fine Irish Earthenware backstamp with the Shamrock in a circle and square, and some have the Celtic Thomas backstamp, such as these examples.

The teapot has a very clean cylindrical shape with a long thin handle and spout, very unusual and very much of the time. It has an indigo wave pattern at the base and a recessed indigo lid and the rest of the teapot is Lilac in colour. The design it attributed to David Hinson.

The two matching handled cups are in the Lilac and Indigo colourway also, and again are unusual in shape, without a traditional handle as such, just a protrusion that you can grab, with a round indentation for your thumb. See the photos for images of the teapot and cups being held.

The Teapots came in two sizes, a taller pot and a shorter pot, and this one is in the taller size and stands 5.5 inches/14 cm tall and measures 9 inches/23 from tip of the spout to tip of the handle.
The two matching handled cups stand 2.25 inches/ 5.5cm tall.

Both the teapot and the two cups are in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, pattern loss or age related crazing. The excellent condition is taken into account when pricing, as it’s the rarity of these items and colourways.

This pattern and style of teapot rarely comes up for sale, especially in this colourway!!! Grab them while you can!
I can only find a milk jug for sale in this colourway online at present, and that is €36 ex shipping/customs. A teapot in the smaller size and Raspberry and Indigo Colourway will set you back €69 ex shipping/customs. See the last couple of photos.
