Antique Victorian Ceramic Medicine Measure – “1 DR. A Teaspoonful” c.1870s ⚕️

A fascinating little survivor from the days of the Victorian chemist – an antique ceramic medicine dose measure, dating to the late 19th century.

Printed on the front in black lettering:

“1 DR.
TO LOWER RIM
(A TEASPOONFUL)”

The small cup was designed to measure one fluid drachm of medicine to the lower rim, traditionally regarded as a teaspoonful. Examples of this particular form are documented in English pharmaceutical collections from around the 1870s.
