Timothy P. Schmalz (Canadian, b. 1969) is a well-known contemporary sculptor and is especially recognised for his religious and spiritual works, many of which are installed in churches, cathedrals & public spaces worldwide (including the Vatican).
His sculptures often emphasise themes of compassion, humanity and spirituality, in both monumental bronze and smaller collectibles.

This piece is “Maternal Bond” which depicts a mother tenderly cradling her child which is a recurring theme in Schmalz’s work.

This is a licensed bonded marble reproduction of “Maternal Bond” and is a collectible devotional piece and artistically significant. His signature is on the base although I don’t have provenance. This has been in storage for a while.
