Description
WWII British Army "SRD" stoneware rum flagon / jug in great condition.
This is a heavy, salt-glazed stoneware piece featuring the classic "S.R.D." (Supply Reserve Depot) stamp on the shoulder. Often said by the troops to represent 'Seldom Reaches Destination' or 'Soon runs Dry'!
The base has the manufacturer's stamp from Pearson & Co. Ltd (Whittington Moor, Chesterfield), dated 1939.

Excellent structural condition for its age. Nice rustic glaze patina.
