Rare Vintage Sadler Irish Market Tea Set Bilingual Gaeilge Stamp

An exceptional and highly collectible 3-piece vintage earthenware tea set by James Sadler & Sons. This is a rare Irish Market Export Edition, featuring a unique bilingual factory backstamp on the base: "AN SASANA TÍR A DHÉANTA / MADE IN ENGLAND".

The bilingual stamp "AN SASANA TÍR A DHÉANTA" dates back to an incredibly interesting historical era: the Anglo-Irish Trade War (Economic War) of 1932–1938. During this tense period of trade retaliation between the Irish Free State and the United Kingdom, certain English factories exporting goods into Ireland were required to state the country of origin explicitly in Irish Gaelic.

It features Sadler’s classic mid-century horizontal ribbed body decorated with vibrant red and yellow cabbage roses, finished with elegant gold gilt trim.

Pieces with the Irish Gaelic stamp are incredibly hard to find, making this an ideal investment piece for serious pottery collectors, Irish history enthusiasts, or a standout feature for a vintage tea display.
