I’m so pleased to present my two lovely, leggy little "Tan & Tendrils" nesting tables—an upcycled pair of charming vintage Irish side tables, intended to bring a blend of rustic charm and subtle elegance to any space.
Originally finished in dark brown with olive green leather tops, these tables have been thoughtfully transformed to highlight their natural beauty and craftsmanship.
The tables' bodies were sanded back to expose the bare wood, intentionally leaving some of the original dark stain in the grooves and on the legs to create a distinctive “shabby-chic” effect. A soft tan wash was applied in two layers, followed by a protective coat of Rustoleum furniture lacquer for a durable finish. The decorative grooves in the legs have been hand-painted in a dark brown hue, echoing the tables’ original character and craftsmanship.
Fuzzy-feet have also been added to protect your lovely hard-floors!
The tabletop design is the truly stunning feature for both. The old olive-green leather has been covered with handprinted, silk-screened Japanese chiyogami paper, showcasing delicate flowers in cream, yellow, orange, and pink, with golden highlights, all set against a baby blue background. The intricate floral and tendril pattern, visible through the original glass tops, adds a touch of class to these otherwise very minimalist pieces.
The Japanese paper was sourced via Liberties Papers in Terenure, a family business down the road that I just adore for all things paper – and it feels great supporting local businesses!
These little beauties are perfect for a boutique café, a stylish makeup studio, or a rural, cottagecore-inspired home - these nesting tables are versatile and functional art pieces that will enhance any setting with a little delicate charm.
