1792 Irish Conder Token Halfpenny - Hibernia Mining Co. (Camac Kyan and Camac)

▪︎ Up for grabs is a fantastic piece of 18th-century Irish history, a 1972 Hibernia Mining Company Conder Token Halfpenny.

▪︎ These fascinating "Provincial Tokens" were minted by Merchants Turner Camac, John Kyan and John Camac to pay workers at the Ballymurtagh Copper Mines in Co. Wicklow during a severe national shortage of official government small change.

▪︎ Obverse : Features a classic seated figure of Hibernia with her harp, surrounded by traces of the text "Incorporated by Act of Parliament" and the clear 1792 date.

▪︎ Reverse : Shows the beautiful, stylized script "HMCo" monogram cipher (Hibernia Mining Company) with traces of the original "Dublin Halfpenny" text visible along the rim.

This is a heavily Circulated, honest piece of emergency currency that actually saw the pockets of 1790s Ireland. A perfect addition for anyone collecting Irish Coinage, Local Tokens or Social History Pieces.
