Description:
Hooray, the inseparable duo Spirou and Fantasio exists 85 years! In close collaboration with the publisher, the Royal Mint of Belgium created an energetic 5 euro commemorative coin, with both an embossed and a colored variant. Truly a party for the jubilating reporters duo! The series was created by the French artist Robert Velter (Rob-Vel) and later handed over to Jijé (he added Fantasio) and André Franquin (he added the Marsipulami and numerous other characters), respectively, under whom the series really became successful . Spirou and Fantasio Spirou once worked as a piccolo, as evidenced by his still red suit with gold buttons, but he is a journalist. He is smart, inventive and very serious. Very different from his loyal companion Piet Kwabbernoot, also a reporter, who is more careful but clumsy and sometimes also a bit short-tempered. With their squirrel Spip they fight criminals. Many of the stories take place in whole or in part in the fictional town of Rommelgem. The duo do not live there themselves, but are good friends with Pancratius Edelhart Ladislas Philippus Count van Rommelgem, an inventor with a passion for mushrooms. Spirou and Fantasio also regularly appear in the comic series Guust about the character Guust Flater, also written by Franquin.
