A stunning piece of history for any currency collector! This is an original Australian paper Twenty Dollar note from the famous "Aviation Pioneers" Series.
This historic note was designed by the world-renowned Australian designer Gordon Andrews. He was famously credited with modernizing Australia's image on the global stage, completely rewriting how national currency looked by blending vibrant colors with abstract technical line art. Look closely behind Kingsford Smith's neck on the front—Andrews subtly hid his own tiny design initials ("GA") directly into the pattern as a hidden signature
Because Australia completely phased out paper money in the 1990s in favor of plastic polymer, these paper notes have been withdrawn from circulation for decades. They are incredibly hard to find in Ireland—even high-street banks can no longer accept or source them, making this a rare addition to a European collection.
The Front: Features a striking portrait of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith (1897–1935), the legendary aviation pioneer who made the world’s first trans-Pacific flight from the USA to Australia. The beautiful abstract line art in the background mimics the complex aerodynamic curvatures of his aircraft wings.
The Reverse: Showcases the brilliant Lawrence Hargrave (1850–1915), the engineer and astronomer whose box-kite experiments paved the way for modern flight. His iconic multi-plane flying machine designs are intricately detailed across the background.

Circulated. The note remains crisp and clean with entirely intact edges—no pinholes, and no ink marks. It shows standard handling creases as visible in the photos, with excellent color preservation.
