Item Description
Up for sale is a beautiful vintage etched copper plate reproduction of John Speed's historic 1610 map of Essex, England.
Unlike standard paper prints, this piece is crafted on a textured, solid metallic copper sheet. This gives the cartographic details, coastlines, and typography a striking three-dimensional relief texture that beautifully catches the light.
The historic design features the county divided into hundreds. A row of heraldic shields representing "The Earles of Essex" runs along the top border. An inset town plan of Colchester sits in the lower-left corner.
The copper plate is mounted directly into a vintage, molded plastic frame finished to look like dark, carved wood with a gold-tone inner accent border. It is designed to be displayed open-face without glass, allowing you to fully appreciate the authentic sheen and engraved textures of the metal.
A wonderful statement piece for collectors of British county history, vintage metalwork art, or classic English estate decor.
Dimensions: 301 mm Wide x 231 mm High (Approx. 11.8 inches x 9.1 inches)
