Meet the BYD DOLPHIN Design, a fully electric hatchback combining distinctive Ocean-inspired styling, impressive technology, excellent everyday practicality and a seriously well-equipped interior.

Finished in Obsidian Black in the photographs, the DOLPHIN's flowing lines, distinctive lighting and modern proportions give it a premium appearance while keeping the compact dimensions that make it so easy to live with around Irish towns and cities.

The Comfort model is also available, giving customers a choice of specification while retaining the DOLPHIN's fully electric character and clever everyday design.

FULLY ELECTRIC – BUILT FOR EVERYDAY IRISH DRIVING

The BYD DOLPHIN is a proper all-electric family hatchback rather than simply a city runabout.

The current Irish model offers up to 427km WLTP combined range, giving plenty of flexibility for commuting, school runs, shopping and longer journeys around Ireland. Its Blade Battery and efficient electric powertrain deliver smooth and quiet performance without traditional gear changes.

For customers with access to home charging, the DOLPHIN is particularly convenient for everyday driving, allowing you to charge overnight and start each morning ready to go.

The DOLPHIN also supports 100kW DC fast charging, with BYD Ireland quoting approximately 29 minutes from 30–80% under suitable charging conditions.

A CABIN THAT STANDS OUT

The DOLPHIN's interior is one of the things that makes it different from a conventional hatchback.

The suspended centre console creates a clean, modern dashboard design, while tactile controls keep important functions easy to access.

The large 12.8" rotatable touchscreen forms the centrepiece of the cabin, while BYD's connected technology brings together infotainment, intelligent voice functionality and smartphone integration.

The front seats are finished in vegan leather, with heating and electric adjustment, while the panoramic glass roof helps flood the cabin with natural light.

There are also numerous clever storage areas throughout the cabin, including large door pockets, covered centre storage and additional space beneath the driver information display.

SURPRISINGLY PRACTICAL

Although the DOLPHIN is compact enough to be easy to manoeuvre through busy Irish streets, BYD has made excellent use of the available interior space.

The long wheelbase creates generous rear passenger room, with a flat rear floor helping make the middle rear position more comfortable.

The 345-litre boot expands to 1,310 litres with the rear seats folded, giving the DOLPHIN plenty of flexibility for shopping, luggage and everyday family life.

SMART TECHNOLOGY FOR EVERY JOURNEY

The DOLPHIN isn't short on technology.

Its connected infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while BYD's intelligent voice functionality allows selected vehicle and entertainment functions to be accessed using voice commands.

The car also features 4G connectivity and over-the-air software updates, helping keep the vehicle's technology current without needing to visit a dealership for every software update.

For Irish driving, the Design's 360° camera, parking sensors and extensive driver-assistance package are especially useful, whether you're manoeuvring through a tight city car park or heading onto the motorway.
