All the information on this bass yet not one mention of the tuners on this. Are they original to the guitar?
@David Kiernan1 what about them? the bass is from 1998, probably have been changed down the years. i’m not the original owner.
@David Kiernan1 the 1998 V fenders usually come with black on silver and mix of scratch plates , so guessing these were changed to silver and black scratch plate at some stage , this is how it got it .
They are gotoh tuners which wouldn’t be the original tuners on a fender from the 90’s, I don’t know the model but they can range from poor enough to decent, if OP posted serial you can check what the og tuners should be
Can you take a clearer photo of the headstock? Fair enough, I didn’t think they used gotoh tuners ever
@colm.dempsey2 will
do, from what i’ve read some did including the american made models . it may have been upgraded to Gotoh tuners but this is what i got it as. i didn’t make any changes too it.

Apparently fender did use Gotoh tuners in the eighties and ninties on certain v models. Two different tuners were used. Gotoh and Ping. As a general rule Gotoh were used on American and Japanese models and Ping were used in Mexican models. And your model says Mexican.
