Perfect setup for a beginner he should stick with it, investing in a tab book could help, they're all online but if he buys an official album tab he likes it might get him off the ground

Also pedals can take away from music focus but a cheap lil multi fx might keep him enthused, digitech are good, no zoom pedals

The guitar and amp hoinhave are beautiful only playing fender guitars need a preamp in the line to power them fully for distortion boxes, a handy little multi fx with a wahwah pedal will have digital amp and distortion units to drive more power, I'd imagine we wanted full on distortion in which case humbucker guitars are usually preferred by beginners, a guitarist playing 10-15 years would love that tele, I just bought a squier myself
