FED Mikron - half-frame 35mm camera

Description

The FED Mikron is a Soviet half‑frame 35mm viewfinder camera produced from the late 1960s to the mid‑1980s, known for its compact size, automatic exposure system, and fast Helios‑89 30mm f/1.9 lens. It was heavily inspired by the Japanese Konica Eye and became one of the more refined Soviet compact cameras of its era.

Key Points
Manufactured by the FED plant between 1968 and 1985, with around 120,000 units produced.

Shoots 18×24mm half‑frame images on standard 35mm film, doubling the number of exposures per roll.

Features a Helios‑89 30mm f/1.9 fixed lens, unusually fast for a compact camera.

Uses automatic exposure via a selenium meter surrounding the lens; shutter speeds range from 1/30 to 1/800 s.

Manual control is limited—setting the aperture manually locks the shutter at 1/30 s.

Known for its solid aluminium body and simple scale‑focus operation

The camera is film tested and functional
