Hi, yes this is electric. It operates of a plug or can be installed on to a spur.

The internal heater has the following functions.

Digital thermostat with smart eco functions
Timer settings: turn on your fireplace at different times of the week or at different times
Heat settings: 1000 Watt and 2000 Watt
