@danielle_osull Hi Danielle, you do attach it to the wall. I just had it in front on the shed for the photo. The handy thing is the way it attaches means you can easily slide the gate off from the attachment pieces when you don't want to use it. You can put in whatever shape you want not just the one in the photo.

Thanks, I can't attach it to the wall in the particular place I'm putting it so I'm looking for something that would be fairly stable standing on its own. No worries, thanks.
