This clamp awning is mainly designed for sun and light rain protection. It’s quite sturdy once securely clamped between the floor and ceiling (or balcony/terrace area), but it wouldn’t be suitable to fully protect a clothesline from heavier rain or strong wind.
It’s ideal for providing shade or light cover on calm days, but for more consistent rain protection you’d be better with a fixed canopy or a fully waterproof cover.

This model is fine for typical light Irish showers and calm days, but it’s really designed as a sun and light rain awning rather than a full weather shelter. It can handle normal use during mild weather, but it shouldn’t be left out in strong wind or heavy, prolonged rain, as that could strain the frame or fabric over time.
For regular use in Irish weather or more consistent rain protection, I’d recommend one of our sturdier retractable models with a heavier frame and thicker waterproof fabric — for example:
