Is it possible to get a good tone on low volume or will I need an attenuator

@shane7x clean tone is fantastic at low or high volume
Distortion is different, as very good at high volume, but not as good at low v.
But it takes pedals very well so the volume is not a problem.

@shane7x I always used a Maxon TX9 in the loop and never needed a high volume
