Rare Vox Supreme Amp Head (trades)

Description

Very cool and rare 1960’s/70's Vox Supreme Amp Head.

The Vox Supreme—introduced in early 1967 by Jennings Musical Instruments (JMI)—was Vox’s flagship 100-watt solid-state amplifier. Known for its built-in distortion, reverb, and Top Boost/Mid-Range Boost circuits, it was adopted by several prominent rock, blues, and pop artists of the late 1960s and early 1970s:

Rory Gallagher owned and used a 1967 Vox Supreme Super Twin stack ( paired with a Vox 4x12 cabinet). While he is most famously associated with his 1960s Vox AC30 tube combo (boosted by a Dallas Rangemaster), Gallagher kept a 1967 Vox Supreme in his gear collection.

The Rolling Stones (Keith Richards & Brian Jones)
The Stones were the first high-profile band issued Vox Supreme stacks in March 1967 ahead of their European tour.
Keith Richards famously ran his Gibson Les Paul into a Vox Supreme during the recording sessions for "Sympathy for the Devil" (immortalized in Jean-Luc Godard's 1968 film One Plus One).

While the Beatles predominantly used Vox’s hybrid 7-Series (7120, 730) and tube AC100s during studio sessions at Abbey Road, they also utilized solid-state Vox Supreme units in 1967–1968.

Cream (Eric Clapton)
Eric Clapton performed using a Vox Supreme stack alongside Jack Bruce (who used a companion Super Foundation Bass amp) during the Daily Express Record Stars Show at Wembley in April 1967—one of the earliest live public debuts of the Vox solid-state series.
