Nobels DT-XN Distortion Xtreme rare pedal box

Description

Nobels DT-XN Distortion Xtreme rare pedal box

A hard-to-find pedal, designed in Germany and made in South Korea.
It combines distortion with separate Low, X-Mid, and High controls, plus independent Drive and Level controls and a built-in noise gate.

The pedal works perfectly and is in good overall condition.

Please note: There is no missing knob. Nobels intentionally left the knob off the noise gate control, and all the other examples I’ve seen have the same design.

Nobels DT-XN Distortion Xtreme is a rare, vintage high-gain distortion pedal developed in Hamburg, Germany, and manufactured in South Korea during the late 1990s. Built specifically to target the heavy rock, thrash, and nu-metal genres, this cult-classic analog pedal functions essentially as a "three-in-one" unit featuring a high-gain distortion engine, an integrated sustainer circuit, and a built-in noise gate.

CONTROL LAYOUT & FEATURES

The pedal features six primary control parameters and a specialized dual-gain circuit to shape aggressive tones:

* Drive: Adjusts the amount of aggressive distortion, ranging from light clipping to heavy saturation.
* N-Gate (Noise Gate): Sets the threshold to eliminate unwanted hum or feedback, which is crucial for tight, high-gain modern metal rhythms.
* Level: Controls the overall output volume of the effect.
* 3-Band EQ (Lo, X-Mid, Hi): Features an enhanced bass technology circuit and a highly effective mid-range frequency control (labeled as X-Mid or X-Tone) optimized for scooping or boosting heavy frequencies.
* Remote Jack: A specialized extra input allows players to connect an external latching footswitch, letting you bypass the unit remotely if you choose to mount the pedal in a rack system.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

* Circuitry: Analog
* Power Requirements: 9V DC, center-negative (or 9V battery), drawing a low current of 22mA.
* Enclosure: Heavy-duty, robust metal housing featuring a quick-access toolless battery compartment.
* Dimensions: 2.91 in (W) x 4.96 in (D) x 2.28 in (H)
* Weight: 1.00 lbs

SONIC PROFILE & COLLECTIBILITY

* The Sound: Unlike Nobels' famous natural-sounding ODR-1 overdrive, the DT-XN delivers a harsh, piercing, and unyielding clipping style. It excels at the deeply scooped mid-tones and heavy low-end chunk popular in late-90s metal.
* Bass Compatibility: Because of its enhanced bass technology and EQ flexibility, it is also frequently used by bassists looking for an aggressive, fuzzy low-end grind.
* Availability: Long discontinued and considered a collector's item, it sporadically surfaces on secondhand gear platforms.
