Description
A 38mm wide cast steel chisel in very good condition. The blade is clean and I have sharpened it properly, ready for work. The ash handle is in good shape.
Richard Melhuish established a tool shop in London in1828. He did not manufacture tools but had chisels like this made by Wm Marples and others.

Sheffield Cast Steel ( Crucible steel) was very expensive to make but its unique crystalline structure means it takes and retains a superior cutting edge and is highly prized by discerning woodworkers
